Hull faces more charges

MATT HULL MATT HULL Matthew Hull, 31, of Mariposa has been formally charged with two new felonies stemming from the demise of his computer business. Hull was back in Mariposa County Superior Court on Tuesday.

Judge Carlos Baker arraigned Hull on the charges that he embezzled more than $11,000 from two Mariposa motels. The Miner’s Inn had ordered a complete computer system that Hull never delivered. The manager of another local motel lost about $480 on a computer tower that Hull was supposed to build but never did.

Hull was originally arrested on emb ezzlement charges on March 24. Those charges were separate from the new ones, although the crimes are very simi- lar. The first case against Hull involved two other victims with losses totaling more than $9,000. He has already pleaded no contest to those charges and was scheduled to be sentenced on Tuesday. In light of the new charges, Hull waived time for sentencing.

The arrest followed months of investigation into the aftermath of Hull’s business failing. Dozens of people had contacted the sheriff’s office since the business abruptly closed its doors. The two new victims came forward following the

GAZETTE’S story about Hull’s arrest.

Hull remains in custody at the Mariposa County Jail on $50,000 bail on each case. He did not enter a plea to the new charges. Hull will be back in court on May 11.
