Ponderosa Basin Chapel youth group feels earthquake

By Dan Tucker, Gazette Publisher

A youth group consisting of 18 youngsters and 4 to 6 sponsors felt the earthquake that rattled the California-Mexico border over the weekend.

Pastor Dave Gunderson of Ponderosa Basin Chapel (PBC) reported Monday morning that “they were concerned” after hearing reports of the quake, but they had received assurance from the mother of Ryan Cody, the PBC assistant pastor, that the group was safe.

Gunderson said the group is located about 50 miles south of Enseñada, and about 100 miles away from the quake’s epicenter.

“They said they felt the quake, but that was it,” Gunderson said.

The group left last Friday, and is expected to return this Friday.
