Adrienne L. Thatcher

Adrienne Lorene Thatcher was born on Dec. 8, 1929, in Bakersfield, and passed away at home on March 11,with all of her family at her side. She was 80 years young.

Adrienne attended school in Los Angeles and moved to Mariposa where she met her husband, Stewart Buddy Thatcher Sr. She worked as a nurse’s aide at Crystal Aire, as a laundry attendant and mail delivery clerk at Yosemite Park and Curry Company, and a bus person at the Yosemite Lodge cafeteria.

She was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother “Grandma T,” and nana. Her hobbies included hunting, camping, cooking, playing cards, crocheting and working in her yard. She loved barbecues, parties, dancing, music, going to the casino, and being around all of her family and friends.

Adrienne enjoyed helping her family and friends and loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. Adrienne was loved by many and will be remembered forever by all those dear to her. Her contagious laugh and upbeat personality made her a joy to be around. Her passionate attitude for helping her family and friends was inspiring to all of those who knew her. She will be missed dearly and was a very special person to all whose lives she was a part of.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stewart Buddy Thatcher Sr.; her parents, Daisy Gordon, Sisco Gann, Raymond Paine, and Hewlett (Hoot) Gordon; brothers, Ray Paine Jr., Teed Gann, Amos Gann, Robin Gann; sisters, Darlene Fern Benson, Sissy Mckeever; and great-granddaughter, Brittani Marsh.

Adrienne leaves behind brothers, Clinton Gann and Terry Gann; sisters, Sandy Johnson, Lois Lawrence, and Sue Riggar; children, Larry and Carla Mayes, Buddy Jr. and Sue Thatcher, Raymond and Beverly Thatcher, Sherrie and Chris Forrest, and Kathie Tate; 16 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren.

A celebration of Adrienne’s life will be held on Saturday April 17 at noon. The potluck will be held at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds in Building A.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
