Backs Binnewies

There are two highly-qualified candidates running for sheriff of Mariposa County. To make my choice, I rely on the history I personally have with one candidate, which I’d like to share with you.

I first met Doug Binnewies years ago when he would sail across the Mariposa Elementary School campus on his sheriff’s deputy patrol bike during recess or lunch. He’d stop to shoot the breeze with the children and give them his sheriff’s department trading cards for their collections. Doug occasionally would visit school to counsel students at my request. I was very impressed with the firm, caring and insightful way he‘d work with students, just as if they were his own children. He treated them with respect and explained things in a way they could understand. These instances give me insight into Doug Binnewies’ skill in relating to people. He is honest, sincere, fair and sincerely enjoys being involved with the people of his community.

Last year, I asked for Doug’s help with a research study on drug abuse prevention for the county. The questions were ones that required Doug to hand sort through data for hours, because he wanted the information to be complete and accurate. I received phone calls and results outside his work hours, late at night and early in the morning. That showed me the dedication and commitment Doug has toward working to help the community.

Doug Binnewies has proven to me that his heart is with the people and concerns of Mariposa County. He is an excellent choice for our sheriff.
