Mariposa County 4-H held its 2010 Presentation/Favorite Foods Day recently. There were demonstrations, illustrated talks, and interpretative readings. Gold medals, blue and red seals were awarded to 4-H participants. Judges’ awards went to skillful speakers or demonstrators. Several presenters gave their presentations again before the awards ceremony.

Organizers thanked judges Cathi and Mitch Boze, Miarja Marchand, Ruth Catalan, Noma Moore, Tony and Gueryn LeCesne, Codie Hart, Carol Suggs, and Adrianne O’Brien for attending. They also thanked the participants, kitchen help, tally crew and all the helpers who made the event fun and educational.

The presentation gold medal winners have the opportunity to attend the Sub-Regional Presentation Day April 17 at Tenaya Middle School in Merced. At this event, 4-H members from Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Stanislaus and Tuolumne Counites will present their gold medal presentations. Gold medal winners on that day will have the opportunity to attend State 4-H Presentation Day on may 29 at 4-H State Field Day at UC Davis.

Winners in the demonstration category include: Reannon Broomfield, gold; Raegan Broomfield, blue; Shawnee Metcalf, gold; Maria Loya/Shelby Mandeville, gold; Josh Mandeville/Wyatt Estep, gold.

Winners for illustrated talks included Emily Metcalf, gold; Elseana Skowronski, blue; Wyatt Harrison, gold and judge’s award.

Interpretative reading winners were Sage Hart, gold; Claire Gorham, gold and judge’s award; Clancy Kramer, gold.

Favorite foods winners were- Bobbie Edwards, bronze; Clancy Kramer, gold and judge’s award; Shawnee Metcalf, bronze; and Emily Metcalf, silver.
