School board releases Panietz
RANDY PANIETZ
Following
the open session of the Mariposa County Unified School District’s board meeting last Thursday, the board took action to release Superintendent Randy Panietz from his contract early. Panietz had already announced his intent to retire effective May 24.
Assistant Superintendent Aaron Rosander will be the acting superintendent, following the board’s action to appoint him. Rosander also formerly served as principal of Mariposa County High School and Lake Don Pedro Elementary School.
“The board expresses its sincere appreciation to Mr. Panietz for the service that he has provided during the past three years,” a press release regarding the action states. “The board has also expressed its desire to transition to new leadership as soon as possible in preparation for the important and immediate work that lies ahead.”
The press release says that the district and former superintendent “mutually agreed” that effective last Friday, Panietz would no longer serve as superintendent. He will, however, be available to assist the district if necessary through the date of his retirement.
