VA offers services in North County

The Veterans Administration Palo Alto Health Care System will once again be holding the Coulterville Health Care Clinic at the Coulterville VFW Hall. Veterans who are not yet utilizing their medical benefits may apply for enrollment and meet with the medical staff on Thursday, Feb. 25 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Medical check-ups will be offered from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Also, veterans who have been previously enrolled for health care but have not seen their provider in over a year should come in to renew their enrollment.

Those who have completed their enlistment and were discharged under other than dishonorable conditions may be eligible for VA healthcare. If the veteran’s income falls below a certain threshhold, he or she may be eligible and may have no co-pays for treatment and/or medicines.

A Veteran Service Officer will also be on hand to review benefits. Some of these include filing for compensation for service connected disabilities, increased compensation, nonservice connected pension, aid and attendance, survivors’ benefits, death benefits, education, vocational rehabilitation, substance abuse counseling, homeless assistance, replacement of medals, retrieval of military records and more. Officals are available Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, contact Louis Bickford at 878-3369. Appointments can be made at other times if necessary.
