Rebekahs serve special heart breakfast
The ladies of La Grange Rebekah Lodge #323 always start the year with a special heart breakfast. In celebration of Valentine's month and in the interest of healthy hearts, proceeds from the breakfast will be shared with the Heart Association. The date is Sunday, Feb. 21 and the menu is a ham and cheese omelette, pancakes, biscuits and gravy with coffee and juice included. Breakfast is $6, served from 7 to 11 a.m. at the La Grange Odd Fellows Hall on Main Street in La Grange.
The "Rebekahs' Favorite Recipes" Cookbook is for sale at all breakfasts. It is spiral bound, bright and cheerful with a color picture of the La Grange IOOF Hall on the cover, priced at $12 a copy. Call Betty Varain 853- 9011 for more ordering information, or Jeannie Elsberry has them at the La Grange Mercantile, Tuesday through Saturday.
Compiled by Rebekahs, with additions from friends and neighbors, the book includes family recipes handed down through the generations, along with current favorites from their own cookbooks.
The "Rebekah's Favorite Recipes" will also be available at the Odd Fellows' monthly breakfast, Sunday, March 14, if supplies last. The Odd Fellow breakfast specialty, biscuits and gravy is $6, from 7 to 11 a.m. Their menu also includes scrambled eggs, sausage and potatoes O'Brien with complimentary coffee and orange juice.
