Stolen recycling
We are a third grade class at Mariposa Elementary School. All year we have been recycling aluminum cans and plastic bottles. After they get turned in to the landfill, the money gets saved for our overnight trip to Camp Green Meadows. The trip costs about $60 for each third grader. Last year our recycling made it cost only $35. Recycling also helps keep our campus clean.
A couple of weeks ago, the recycling disappeared from the cans outside our classroom, and it wasn’t us. We already had the cans chained to the fence, because this wasn’t the first time they had been taken. Now our custodian, Blair, chained the lids shut, which makes it hard to put sacks of recycling inside. We are really disappointed because we thought this wouldn’t happen in Mariposa.
We would like everyone to help us keep an eye on our cans so this doesn’t happen again. If you are on the M.E.S. campus on the weekends or after school and you see someone taking our recycling, please stop them. But if they (or you) are adding recycling to our cans, please say thank you.,
