Mariposa County has hired a new building director after several months of searching. County Administrative Officer (CAO) Rick Benson announced on Tuesday that Michael Kinslow will take the position in mid-March.

Benson said Kinslow has more than 30 years of experience in construction and construction inspections. He holds dozens of professional certifications in building inspection.

Most recently, Kinslow has been based in Anacontes, Wash., although he is originally from the Visalia area. He will relocate to the Mariposa area when he takes the post.

On his Web site, Kinslow deatils the many phases of contruction that his company handles. He has been a licensed contractor since 1979.

Kinslow apparently did his homework on the Mariposa County job. He even met with the Mariposa County Contractors’ Association before he interviewed.

He could not be reached for comment.
