Thank you
Early this month, it was our privilege to be guests of our now fellow members of the Mariposa Chamber of Commerce. We happily received awards, citations and plaques (soon to be displayed) for being selected as Mariposa business family of the year, even from the representative of our bereaved Congressman Radanovich.
We especially treasure our memories because this was the first time for an award made to a family group. Also, we are touched to have joined our fairgrounds, business of the year; and special individuals, previously honored, like Don Haag, who had received the award twice and now has achieved a lifetime plaque for his community service.
It was an enjoyable and memorable evening. The rainy night failed to dampen our spirits. We appreciated the table decorations, the caterer and food, and the serving provided by our 4- H members.
Thank God for letting us be born in Mariposa County, to our fine parents. My brother Gary and I grew up with the inspiration and examples of community service. Among other things, for years our late father, Winnie, helped prepare the Veterans’ Day spaghetti dinner of our VFW post.
I recall that as a child, I helped mother nuture flowers in the plot at the old US Post Office as she, with her garden club, seemed destined to beautify Mariposa, one planter at a time. At 93, she maintains her license and continues to shampoo and do other work in the beauty shop.
Thank you again for a cherished memory, my membership and the kind fellowship surrounding us.
