USFS seeks fire fighters

The Forest Service today announced that the Stanislaus National Forest is currently advertising to hire and fill thirteen job vacancies for a variety of permanent federal career firefighting positions. The positions, located at various offices and stations throughout the Forest, include fire engine operators and a fire prevention patrol.

Information on these positions can be found on the Stanislaus National Forest Web site at: www.fs.fed.us/r5/stanislaus, or http://fs.usda.gov/stanislaus, and click the link “Fire Employment Outreach.”

Applications for the permanent career firefighting positions must be submitted no later than March 8, 2010 to be considered for these career appointment positions. Selections will be made for California (Region 5) duty locations during the two week period beginning on April 19, and ending on April 30. For applicants to be considered, applications must be submitted using the AVUE website at https://www.avuedigitalservices. com/usfs/applicant.ht ml.

As selections are made, Forest Service Pacific Southwest Region 5 will be filling behind permanent employees who have accepted new positions. Therefore, applicants are encouraged to apply to any location in Region 5 where they would be willing to work, in case that location becomes available during this process.
