CASA begins car donation program

CASA of Mariposa County has joined the ranks of nonprofits who now accept donated vehicles. Donors and members of the community who want to support the mentorship and advocacy for abused and neglected kids (while also getting a receipt for their tax donation) will now find it easy and convenient to do so. All vehicles including cars, trucks, SUVs, motorcycles, snowmobiles, jet skis, and boats will be accepted, although some restrictions apply.

Free same-day and weekend pick ups are available. Vehicles do not have to have a smog certificate or be running in most cases. The tow truck driver will provide donors with all the required DMV forms.

According to CASA Volunteer Coordinator Don Rose: “We need donated vehicles from the community to help court appointed special advocates continue to provide the full range of our important services to abused and neglected children in Mariposa County.”

Donors will receive a receipt for their donation and IRS form 1098 B to use for their taxes. The new tax law allows the donor to take the value at which the vehicle sold at auction as their tax deduction.

To arrange to have a vehicle picked up, or to find out more about this program, call The Center for Car Donations representative at (877) 411- 3662.
