Mariposa County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested five more men on Monday after they wandered out of the brush where they had been hiding since Sunday afternoon. They headed for the hills after a cock fighting incident on Heritage Lane was busted.

One of the men arrested was carrying a chicken when deputies found him. Two others were with him on Yaqui Gulch Road, not far from the home where the incident took place. Two more men were taken into custody in Cathey’s Valley late Monday afternoon.

The latest arrests bring the total to 35 adults and one juvenile. The sheriff’s office has also impounded 70 birds.
