Good deeds

It is so refreshing to hear of good deeds done in this time of economic distress. I want to thank the Woodland PTA for its very generous donation to the Accelerated Reader reading program for Woodland students. Since there are no library funds to help with the reading program, I was beginning to stress about providing this valuable tool for the students and teachers. In the past, the Scholastic Book Fair profits have paid for the AR program, however, as in everything else today, the price has gone up too high for the program to continue without support. This is where our wonderful Woodland PTA stepped in and provided the coverage to continue with Accelerated Reader.

Our PTA board and members are awesome. They know how important it is to provide invaluable tools for our children and teachers. Reading, being one of the key tools that will provide students with promising futures, is a must in our schools today. Libraries in the Mariposa School District provide a wonderful selection of fiction and nonfiction literature for all students to read. And now, thanks to our PTA, at Woodland the students will also have access to any quiz that AR provides for books read, and the teachers will have access to a valuable tool in diagnosing the reading skill levels of their students.

Thank you again for being so supportive of the Woodland kids, and our AR reading program. PTA is very much appreciated at Woodland.
