Storm blows through, more is on the way

Wet, rainy weather expected all week

Monday’s storm brought powerful winds and heavy rain and created a number of problems. There were reports of trees and power lines down, and some PG&E customers were without power on Monday afternoon.

The Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office closed Lake McClure in the late morning because of high winds. Not long after, a tree fell into a power line in front of Mercy Ambulance’s headquarters on Highway 140. Then power lines were arcing on Sixth Street.

There was flooding on Merced Falls, Stroming and Triangle Roads. A tree fell through the roof of a home in Ponderosa Basin. There were no injuries.

More rain is expected today, with even stronger storms forecast for Wednesday and Thursday. For complete storm coverage, see this week’s Mariposa Gazette.
