County braces for winter weather

Storms to stretch through the week

Mariposa County and all of California are bracing for more wet weather this week, as the National Weather Service is warning of five to 10 inches of rain. Rain is forecast everyday from now until at least Friday.

Monday’s storm is expected to have its greatest impact in the afternoon. Thunderstorms are also a possibility today. There will be a brief break in the weather before another system hits on Tuesday.

The strongest of the storms is expected on Wednesday, followed by more and colder storms on Thursday and Friday. Already, the rain has caused some problems with minor rockslides in the Merced River Canyon over the weekend.
