Habitat seeks family

Habitat for Humanity (HFH) of Mariposa County is beginning the search for its first “partner family.” The next several months will be a time for HFH and for the family that qualifies for the home that will be built on land that was recently donated to Habitat for Humanity in Mariposa.

Individuals, couples, and families are invited to attend a meeting on Saturday, Jan. 23, at 11 a.m. at Mariposa Lutheran Church on Highway 49 South. At this meeting habitat’s homeownership process will be explained, and applications will be given out to prospective partner families. Applications will be available only at this meeting.

Applicants must show a need for housing, the ability to repay a no-interest mortgage, and a willingness to put in “sweat equity,” including 100 hours of construction on their home. In addition to meeting certain income requirements, they must be residents of Mariposa County for at least one year.
