More than 300 gather for dinner
the surr ounding community
turned out in force to partake in
the holiday camaraderie and
enjoy a traditional holiday feast,
p rovided by the Coulterville
Community Club (CCC).
Record contributions of
turkeys and hams fed the 325
people who came by the schoolhouse
as well as provided several
dozen meals deliver ed to those
unable to attend. So much was
donated this year that bags of
sliced ham and turkey were distributed
to local chur ches after
the event. While ther e was a
temporary shortage of dessert
midway through the afternoon,
but additional tr eats wer e
quickly brought in for the final
hour.
There were two lucky winners
that afternoon, with Pete Moon
of Lake Don Pedr o winning the 50/50 raf fle and Coulterville’s
Leigh Williams winning the twonight
houseboat excursion.
“Th e proceeds of these two
drawings as well as miscellaneous
contributions of fset s a
large part of the cost of pr oducing
the dinner ,” said Melynda
Morey, CCC president. “But we
could not do this without the effort
of the entire community. In
addition to the outright contributions
of hams, turkeys, and some
of the trimmings, we ar e able to
purchase much o f t he rest at
wholesale prices.”
Morey added, “Then we have
all of the folks willing to spend
the time and ef fort to pr epare
everything in advance as well as
those who spend the entir e day,
or a good chunk of it, doing final
preparation and set-up, serving,
bussing and cleaning up. Thanks
to each and every one of you.”
