We wish to thank all who helped us celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary at McCay Hall in Cathey’s Valley on Nov. 7. Nearly 80 family members and friends were in attendance, some from as far away as Texas, Montana and Oregon, as well as other areas of California.

The actual anniversary date was Aug. 1, but the celebration was postponed until November so grandson, Troy Bass (just home from Iraq), could come from Fort Hood, TX., and grandsons, Scott and Derek Soden, were finished with forest fire duties (both are firefighters for the U.S. Forest Service).

The affair was hosted by daughter, Rhonda Soden; and son, Vern Bass. Rhonda organized the event with support by Vern from Montana. A barbecued tri-tip dinner prepared by Kieth Stowell was served followed by a beautifully decorated cake. A video was shown with pictures of family and friends throughout our marriage.

We want to thank all who came, and a special thank you to Rhonda and Vern. Family members attending were Rhonda Soden, fiance Paul Aranguena, Rhonda’s sons, Scott (wife Sarah), David and Derek, Vern, his wife, Elbereth and son, Ethan; Vern’s daughter, Crystal and her sons, Conner and Noah (her husband Tom was attending CHP academy), and Vern’s son Troy, his wife Savannah and their children, Allyson, Acacia, Justin, Philip and Jorden.
