Most recent recipients include Manna House, a non-profit organization that provides emergency food to all in need, and Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit community organization providing affordable housing to low income families. Soroptimist continues to be a major contributor/ sponsor for Mountain Crisis Services, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping domestic violence victims in Mariposa County.

Soroptimist held its eighth annual Gold Rush Dinner and Dance in March and volunteered at the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life in May.

During the Mariposa County Fair the Soroptimist members volunteered for four days in the Mountain Crisis Services food booth, with all proceeds going to that organization. The first weekend in December is always time for the annual two-day Christmas Craft Show, hosted by Soroptimist, which has gained a reputation as being the “season’s best.” Soroptimist rents space to over 75 local crafters and cooks up tasty meals and treats in the “Country CafĂ©.” Members will be concluding this busy year by taking a day shift, ringing the bell for Salvation Army.

Throughout the year Soroptimist was fortunate to have many informative speakers at its regular meetings, including representatives from J.C. Fremont Hospital, the Triangle 4-H Million Trees project, search and rescue, FFA, Manna House, Mountain Crisis Services and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). New members are welcome.
