CAROLE MICHAEL (RIGHT) RECEIVES HER CROWN AS 2010 SORORITY PRINCESS FROM TI SHACKELTON. Carole Michael was crowned the 2010 Princess by Xi Phi Upsilon at last month’s meeting held at the home of Ina Linderman. Michael was surprised when Ti Shackleton, the 2009 princess, placed the crown on her head.

Michael, representing her Mariposa chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, will be presented to attendees of the Sweetheart Ball on Feb. 27, 2010 held at the Merced Country Club She will share this honor with princesses chosen by eight other chapters of the Merced- Mariposa Area Council as they celebrate this annual event.

In addition to all the Christmas and New Year’s festivities, Xi Phi Upsilon is already making plans for its 12th annual soup and game day to be held Jan. 29, 2010 with proceeds designated for breast cancer research. Barbara Parker, chairwoman of the 2010 event, stated that last year they were able to donate $1,210. She said that, with winter weather bringing lots of crowds to enjoy delicious homemade soups and a game day filled with fun and prizes, they hope to exceed that goal.
