Bears land 2010 big game
After an incredibly successful 2009 event, the Mariposa Youth Football (MYF) league has been asked to host the 2010 Trans Valley Youth Football League (TVYFL) Superbowl. Organizer Bob Kirchner made the announcement at the Bears’ awards banquet on Tuesday night.
The TVYFL board unanimously voted to ask Mariposa to host the games again. TVYFL President John Nixon said this year’s event was “terrific” and added, “We would be honored if Mariposa would do it again.”
Louie Parra, a TVYFL board member said, “It was evident that Mariposa knew how to make us feel welcome, and they should do another Superbowl such as the one we experienced.”
After some discussion, Mariposa accepted the offer, and it was agreed that the Superbowl will be conducted over three days to allow more time for participation in related events. The wildly-popular bonfire will again kick-off the weekend-long event.
Nixon said that there will be 26 teams in the league next year, which is five more than this year. Play starts in late August and concludes in early November with the Superbowl.
“Everyone is in anticipation of Superbowl 2010,” Kirchner said. “It should be bigger and grander than ever.”
