Kari Cobb and Scott Gediman of Yosemite's Media Relations Office field a wide variety of phone calls each day. In addition to fielding questions from journalists from around the world, they get requests for information for textbooks, brochures, and a wide variety of promotional materials about Yosemite National Park. They also speak with representatives of television game shows looking to formulate or check questions about the world famous national park. They have worked with the shows "Jeopardy" and "Greed" recently.
A few months ago, they received a call from "Wheel of Fortune" looking for some footage of the park for one of the "video clues" that was used for solving a puzzle. A few months later, they received word that the answer to a puzzle with the clue of "landmark" would be Yosemite National Park.
"I got such a kick out of this when they called. Of course, Yosemite is known all over the world. But this is the first time in my recollection that Yosemite would be a puzzle answer on Wheel of Fortune. It was very exciting, " said Gediman.
The show aired and the jackpot for the Yosemite National answer was $8,000.
