Alice D. Elliott

D. Elliott, a long-time resident of Mariposa and Merced, passed away quietly on Nov. 19 at the age of 89.

Alice Alice The daughter of Isabel and Miguel Plaza, Alice was born in Hollister, on June 14, 1920, one of nine children.

She married William F. Elliott in 1943. They made their home in Mariposa, where Mike and Donna were born. Alice worked at the Mariposa Courthouse for seven years until they moved in 1964 when Bill went to work for the State of California. Because of his job they lived in Merced, Taft, Hemet, and Coalinga before coming back to Mariposa upon his retirement, then finally returning to Merced in 1987. After Bill retired they traveled extensively, making many trips across the United States, as well as two trips to Europe.

Alice is survived by her husband of 66 years, Bill, of Merced, their son Mike, of Sacramento, their daughter Donna, of Bakersfield, a brother John, of Santa Barbara, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5, at Gospel Defenders Church, 2090 Beachwood Drive, Merced at 1 p.m.
