Margaret Carroll
Margaret Carroll, 82, of El Centro, died Wednesday at El Centro Regional Medical Center from complications with pneumonia.
Memorial Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at First Christian Church, 450 South Waterman Ave. in El Centro. Pastor Ed Sempsrott of First Christian will officiate.
Mrs. Carroll was born Glenna Margaret Stark March 11, 1927 in San Diego. She married Elwood “Woody” Carroll in Modesto on Nov. 25, 1945. They had a marriage of over 60 years.
Margaret led a full life of many activities including waterskiing, adventure trips in Alaska, Member of DAR, Red Hat Ladies, and many church activities. Margaret was an oil painter, but mostly known as an artist in music. Her talents were many: She played violin in three symphony orchestras in Imperial Valley, Mariposa and Merced. She was music director in various churches in Imperial and Mariposa Counties. Margaret sang in various chamber singer groups, trios, string quartets, I.V. Choral Society, IVC Master Chorale, and was part of the worship team at First Christian Church. Carroll is credited with starting “The Old–Fashioned Gospel Hymn Sing” for Imperial Valley churches. Her many talents and service will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Allan and Nancy Carroll of Mariposa; daughter Diana Carroll of La Mesa; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Sam Gaddis of Pacific Beach; grandchildren, Melody Bartholomew and husband Dan of Santee; Stepheni Cornelison and husband Bret of Idaho; Robert Carroll and wife Peggy of Texas; Heidi Fitzgerald and husband Danny of El Centro; Holly Pittman and husband Mac of San Diego; Tommy Gaddis of El Centro; great grandchildren, Aaron, Davis, Jesse, Amber, Demi, Ian, Joshua (J.T.) and Abby. Also survived by many close relatives, three sisters in-law, one brother-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.
