Senior Center hosts its holiday kick-off

On Saturday, Dec. 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the community is invited to the Senior Center on Spriggs Lane to kick-off the holidays.

Hot potato soup will be ready at 11 a.m. and served till 2 p.m. along with cookies and other goodies. Senior Services is selling See’s Candy again this year with the proceeds going to the senior programs.

The Hospital Volunteers Santa’s Bazaar will be open. It has a lot of fun stocking stuffers and gifts for that person who has everything.

Some programs and activities provided from the Senior Center are senior information and assistance, congregate and home delivered meals, transit and medical transportation (equipped with wheel chair accessibility); socialization, bridge, sewing, art, life story writing groups, a meeting place for various organizations, food distribution center, bingo and a variety of other activities.

With the help of these and other programs available in Mariposa, many seniors are able to stay active and in their homes longer. Volunteers are are needed and used in various programs.

The building is also available for rent from the Mariposa Golden Agers in the evenings and on weekends.
