Christopher cruises as Mariposa blanks Lindhurst

By R. D. Tucker

Paced by four touchdowns and over 200 yards on the ground from senior Cody Christopher, Mariposa's Grizzlies handily dispatched the Lindhurst Blazers, 34-0, Friday night in the Gold Bowl. It was a first round clash of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division V football playoffs that ended 180 degrees different than last season when the Blazers eliminated Mariposa in the same game.

The Grizzlies scored in every quarter and dominated the contest before a shamefully small hometown crowd under a fairly constant light rain.

Mariposa will now travel to Sacramento next Friday to take on top-seeded Capital Christian while Le Grand hosts Highlands in its playoff match. In the other first round battle, Denair fell to Highlands, 24-21.

Look for complete game details, and a preview of the Capital Christian challenge in the next edition of the Mariposa Gazette.
