ICES can provide referrals

2009-11-19 / Inside Education

Infant/Child Enrichment Services (ICES) is a public non-profit agency that provides a number of services to families in the community. Services include child care resource and referral, public trustline, child care subsidies, recruitment and training of child care professionals and parent education and support. The agency’s goal is that all parents in the community have access to quality child care and parenting education.

ICES maintains an up-todate referral file of licensed and licensed-exempt centers and licensed family child care homes in Mariposa County and it can provide parents with the names and numbers to those facilities. When parents call, ICES collects data such as name, contact information, age of the children needing care, area where care is to be provided and the days and hours needed. The goal is to assist parents in finding the widest range of services available and encourage them to select the most appropriate for their family.

If a parent chooses to use an unlicensed provider, they have the option of having that provider register with Public- Trustline. When an unlicensed provider has registered with Trustline it means that they have passed a fingerprint check of records at the California Department of Justice and have no disqualifying criminal convictions or substantiated child abuse reports in California.

ICES also provides subsidy to eligible families that need help with the cost of their child care. Eligibility is based on income, family size, and need. The family must have an ongoing need for child care such as working, attending school or a training program or looking for work. In two parent households, both parents must have a need.

Anyone with interest in or questions about any of these programs can call ICES at 966- 4474, 1-800-966-4474 or visit
