Do your duty

I find it hard to feel sorry for the people that were “rounded up” for jury duty. I have heard over and over in this town how horrible it was that the courts had to do that and that it was outrageous.

Well folks, I don’t think it was outrageous. I think what is outrageous is the fact that people don’t go in when called or they lie on forms when they get them in the mail. How in the world can we have a good judicial system if people won’t do their duty to serve on a jury? I would much rather have a jury decide my fate than just one person. I think the shame is on the people that didn’t show up, and they should be punished. I think we should all take a good look in the mirror and ask ourselves just what kind of citizens we are when we can’t give a little time to do our duty.
