Keller honored at Stanford

Mariposa County High School English teacher Rich Keller, who retired at the end of last year, spent Nov. 6 at Stanford University’s football game, but not just as a fan. He was with his teammates of the 1969 Stanford University football team as they took part in the school’s annual Legend’s Reunion weekend.

Keller and the rest of the storied team were honored at halftime of the game against Oregon. The Cardinal pulled a terrific upset, adding to the fun of the day.

The 1969 Stanford team was “led by a high-powered offense and one of the top defenses” on the west coast. The team finished the season ranked 19th in the country with a 7-2-1 record. Just three plays stood in the way of the then-Indians and a perfect season.
