News Directors honor Bob Moffitt

Bob Moffitt, reporter for KFBK News Talk Radio in Sacramento, was honored for “News Reporting” at the 28th NorCal Radio Television News Directors Association Awards dinner in San Francisco on Saturday, Nov. 7. Moffitt’s award came for his report from San Francisco earlier this year on the gay marriage issue. It was voted the 2009 winner in the association’s radio news reporting category.

A native of Mariposa, Moffitt graduated from Mariposa County High School in 1988 and from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1993. His major was journalism. He has spent the last 15 years working in TV and radio.

Bill Moffitt, who died while Bob was in college, and Betty Lou Moffitt, are his parents.

Moffitt’s grandfather, Ted Moffitt, was the printer at the

MARIPOSA GAZETTE when Marguerite Campbell’s father ran the paper in the 1940s. Ted’s duties at the GAZETTE were not limited to printing. He was also the typesetter, the proofreader, and at times, the editor.

Moffitt and his wife, Joan, live in Marysville with their 4-year-old daughter.
