Soroptimist International of Mariposa, an international volunteer organization for business and professional women, is seeking applicants for the Women’s Opportunity Award. This award honors women 18 years old and older who serve as the primary wage earners for their families and have financial need.

This award is to offset costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education or additional work skills and training. The award can be used for tuition, books, childcare, transportation or any other education-related expense. The winner in Mariposa will receive $500.

In addition, Soroptimist grants three $10,000 finalist awards each year. Those interested in applying can contact Angela Heiss at 742-6967 for an application. The deadline for submitting applications is Dec. 15.
