Fremont Healthcare District held a reception to honor Senator Dave Cogdill, to thank him for his lead in introducing and pursuing the passage of Senate Bill 198 on behalf of JCF.

Joining the JCF board of directors at the reception were representatives from Coalinga Healthcare District, Kevin Cann, and Jim Allen, Mariposa County Supervisors, Colin Sueyres from Congressman Radanovich’s office, Dr. Joseph Rogers, Dr. Marcus Shouse, hospital management staff, hospital foundation members, and other dignitaries who gathered at the Best Western conference room for the event.

“Senator Cogdill is an advocate for the needs of rural areas of California. He works with local leaders on many issues concerning rural residents, including access to health care and quality education. We thank him for the support he’s shown for our hospital and Mariposa,” said Chuck Bill, CEO. Samuel M. (Mike) McCreary, board chairman, presented the senator with a resolution from the JCF board of directors.

Other special guests at the reception were the 2010 Mariposa Scholar Award winners Colin Ritter and Amber Lundin Hartgraves, and their families. Senator Cogdill had a surprise for these accomplished students, as he presented each of them with a Certificate of Achievement from the California Senate. Ritter wants to become a pediatrician, and Lundin Hartgraves plans to become a nurse.

“We congratulate Colin and Amber for their achievements. When you complete your medical programs, perhaps you’ll come back to Mariposa and work at JCF,” said Bill.
