Soroptimist offers Richardson Award

Soroptimist International of Mariposa, an international volunteer organization for business and professional women, is seeking applicants for the Violet Richardson Award. This award honors young women between the ages of 14 and 17 who make the community and world a better place through volunteering.

These young women may be involved in volunter service in many ways, such as fighting drugs, crime or violence; cleaning up the environment, working to end discrimination and poverty, recognizing other needs in their schools and communities.

The winner will receive $200 from the Mariposa Soroptimists and will have the potential to receive thousands more if they win at the district and national levels. Those who are interested and qualify to apply, contact Angela Heiss at 742-6967 for an application. The deadline is submitting applications is Dec. 1.
