The Mariposa Lions Club trout fishing derby held on Saturday, Sept. 26, at Lake Mc- Swain attracted participants from all over Central California. After a full day of fishing and trying to catch “the big one,” winners were announced in three divisions. Tim Altemeyer, from Hilmar, was presented a check for $105 as winner of the men’s division; Karen Dickinson, from Cathey’s Valley, was presented a check for $60 as winner of the women’s division; and Nick Crutchfield, from Mariposa, was presented a check for $35 as winner of the children’s division.

Proceeds from the derby benefit the Mariposa Lions’ student scholarship program.
