Oct. 20: •Bear concerns were expressed on Old Highway. •There was a bat on a driveway on Ranchito Drive. •Burglaries were reported on Greeley Hill Road and Silver Lane. •Someone was shooting at night on Woodview Lane.
Oct. 21: •Dispatch took a barking dog complaint from Hillside Drive. •A vehicle was on fire on Dexter Road. •Someone heard shooting or firecrackers on Sierra Drive. •Suspicious persons were at the Oaks in Cathey’s Valley.
Oct. 22: •There was a disabled bus on Highway 140 in El Portal. •Petty theft was reported on Ben Hur Road. •There were verbal disputes at the Best Western and at a home on Upper Trower Road.
Oct. 23: •Poachers were on Grist Road. •There was a dead opossom on Smith Road. •Horses were out on Bridgeport Drive. •Someone was riding a dirt bike on Quail Ridge Road.
Oct. 24: •Someone needed advice on Highway 140. •There was a domestic dispute on El Toro Road. •Deputies were requested to help staff at John C. Fremont Hospital’s emergency room. •Someone was shooting on Bullion Extension Road.
Oct. 25: • A vehicle was vandalized on Paraiso Road. •There was a bear on Highway 49 North. •There was a prowler on Bullion Extension Street. •Someone was shooting in the Grist Road area.
The above listed calls are actual reports to Mariposa County Sheriff’s Dispatch. These are just a sampling of each day's calls, but are in no way all inclusive. The intent of this log is to demonstrate the wide array of issues with which Mariposa County law enforcement must deal, in addition to investigation of serious crimes and their routine patrol.
